| Fans: 220 000 people Race cars starting: 230 cars Driver for LAUNCH-Europe GmbH German Division: Marcel Leipert Car: Porsche 997 GT3 Power: 650 hp Max speed: app. 330 km/h The race: After a very successful training the team started from place No. 14. After 12 hours, the private team was running on place 8, in front of some official factory teams from Porsche, Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Chrysler. Nicki Lauda, the former formula 1 world champion once said, the Nürburgring is the green hell, and he was right. After 15 hours the first drive shaft was broken, later the other one. Both they could change but because of the repairing time they lost lot of places. At the final end, 5 hours before the fixed arrival time (15h), the gearbox broke and the race was finished. So it was a very good race 15 hours long and our driver Marcel, a team is built of 4 drivers, was very happy, because to be under the top 10 in this race is normally unbelievable. But this day, the luck was not on side of the team, not on side of our young driver Marcel. |
